Waterbury is home to the much coveted Heady Topper.

Having survived Tropical Storm Irene, which flooded the town in 2011, Waterbury has become known as the Little Town that Could. It’s a small town with a population of about 5,000 year-round residents. Recently it’s become know as a brew-hub, with numerous restaurants serving comprehensive offerings of micro-brewery beers. The driving force behind all the beer is the Alchemist, makers of Heady Topper, at one time rated #1 out of 250 beers by beeradvocate.com. The Alchemist restaurant was flooded, never to return, but they still make Heady at their brewery on Route 100, just north of Waterbury. Prohibition Pig replaced the Alchemist restaurant and has a great selection of beer, as do The Reservoir (restaurant) and Blue Stone.

They are also located in the heart of ski country, with Sugarbush, Stowe Mountain Resort, Bolton Valley Resort, and Trapp Family Lodge Cross-Country Ski Center close by.
