For March, 6 Gabaree Lane in Jericho, Vermont, is the property I’ve chosen to feature as my “Pick of the Month.” It’s a traditional Cape-style house with the added bonus of a four-season sun room. It’s located on a cul-de-sac in a small neighborhood with little traffic. The house is move-in ready, as no one is currently living in it. It is appropriately priced at $273,000. The future owners’ combined income level would be in the $60,000 – $80,000 range.

The previous owners did everything they could possibly think of to make this house ready to sell. The floors are polished, the rugs shampooed, and the steps to the two upstairs bedrooms has new carpeting. However, the best feature of this house is the four-season sun room. Any horticulturist would thrive in this room, and so would the plants. A propane-burning fireplace warms up a dreary day, and the windows on three sides let in light all day long. The room would make a wonderful office, family room, or studio.
Sliding doors in the sun room lead out to a small porch suitable for a grill, table, and chairs. The back yard has a fenced run where a dog can be off leash.
I can see a young family in this house, with the kids enjoying their own space in the two upstairs bedrooms. They’d even have their own bathroom! Parents could have the master bedroom on the first floor. There’s another room on the first floor that could be a playroom or den.
Six Gabaree Lane is situated in a somewhat rural setting, yet conveniences are surprisingly close by. The nearest full-service grocery store is the highly acclaimed Richmond Market and Beverage, only 6.5 miles away. Even closer is the Jericho Center Country Store, less than two miles and four minutes away. Richmond also has four popular restaurants: Toscano Café, Sonoma Station, The Kitchen Table Bistro, On the Rise Bakery, and Bridge Street Café and Grill. In the other direction from 6 Gabaree Lane is the popular meeting place, the Village Cup in Jericho.
The school system serving Jericho is outstanding. I can speak from personal experience, as my daughter attended the same middle and high schools, and I was very happy with her education (she’s now a freshman at Northeastern University in Boston, where she’s on the Club Swim Team). For Jericho youngsters there’s Jericho Elementary School. Upon graduation they go to Brown’s River Middle School, and then to Mount Mansfield Union High School.
