Spring Cleaning and Staging Your Home, 101

If you have ever watched HGTV, you’ve probably heard a lot about staging your home when you put it up for sale. You don’t need to hire a professional to do this. Here are a two suggestions I give my clients in Underhill and Jericho Vermont:

1.  Create open spaces.
People need to see themselves living in your house and not focus on how you live there. Creating an open-space feeling makes it easier for potential buyers to visualize how they would make your house their house. The photos below demonstrate this idea. The first two shots show what the room was like before, and the next two show how it looked after we created open space.

2.  De-clutter your home.
Your clutter can have a negative impact on potential buyers. Pack up the paraphernalia that you don’t use every day, and store it away somewhere out of site.
